It's been a long time coming, but 2022 is the year that Newcastle becomes the first city to host UK Pride and it is guaranteed to be massive.

Postponed for two years due to the pandemic, the anticipation for UK Pride 2022 is high and Newcastle is ready and waiting to celebrate.

An array of activities are being held to support the LGBTQ+ community through action and advocacy. From marching to dancing, listening to debating, there is something for everyone in NewcastleGateshead to celebrate UK Pride 2022.

UK Pride 2022

You are invited to take part in a festival weekend of events at Newcastle’s Town Moor on the 22nd to 24th of July.

There is set to be a stellar line-up at the UK Pride launch party, including world-famous dancer and pop icon Todrick Hall, as well as Ru Paul's Drag Race UK finalist and fan favourite Bimini Bon Boulash. On top of all this, megastar DJ Jodie Harsh will be making an appearance. Feeling excited yet? We are!

Being the city best known for being warm, friendly and especially vibrant in the nightlife department, there is an array of activities for those wanting to dance till dawn (or in this case 10pm!) or those who just want to revel in the electric atmosphere of the weekend.

UK Pride March

50 years since the first LGBTQ+ march in London, thousands are expected to join the march as it makes its way through the city, filling the streets with a sea of colour. Don your finest rainbow couture and join fellow members of the community, allies, friends and family as we celebrate and commemorate those who have fought for our right to love and be who we are.

The march begins at Newcastle’s Civic Centre on Saturday 23rd July starting at 12:00 pm (sharp!) and slowly progresses through the city, ending at the UK Pride Festival grounds on the Town Moor.

Free cinema screening of Pride (2014) at Star & Shadow

Venture into independent cinema Star & Shadow to watch a film that will definitely pull at your heartstrings!

Nominated for a Golden Globe, this comedy drama is based on a true story and depicts a group of lesbian and gay activists who raised money to help families affected by the British miners' strike in 1984.

Following the screening on the 20th of July at 6pm, a glorious panel of Newcastle University researchers and experts will be chatting queer themes to help celebrate UK Pride.
