10 Bars on Newcastle Quayside HERO

Newcastle is famed for its fizzing nightlife but with so much going on, it's hard to know where to start? Might we suggest you immerse yourself in the weekend and after-work buzz of Newcastle Quayside? Sip a cocktail, nurse a pint or dance like EVERYONE is watching at one of the iconic location's many top bars.

Those seeking out the cracking nightlife in Newcastle might visit Ouseburn to discover more casual vibes at the breweries and independent pubs, or head to the Bigg Market for a lively experience and a chance to dance the night away. However, for a choice of pubs with a buzz, restaurants with a side of Bellini or some of the best late night bars - why not set your night out in Newcastle against the iconic backdrop of the Quayside's seven bridges and sparkling lights?

A popular choice all year round, it's not hard to see why hundreds of people enjoy a night out at Newcastle Quayside's many bars which are all within easy strolling distance of each other.

If you're here for excellent food to accompany your cocktails then there are lots of options, including SIX at BALTIC, Dobson and Parnell or Hard Rock Cafe, which can be found on our recommended list of restaurants to try on the Quayside. Livello

Livello is one of the city's must-visit nightclubs and bars. Recently reimagined, renovated and reopened after a long closure period during the coronavirus pandemic - Livello is where you will find the late night party on Newcastle Quayside.

Grab a drink outside or at the bar early in the evening or head along for all your end-of-the-night dancing needs for true nightclub fans. Livello have introduced two late-night events - on Fridays be wowed by Theatro where performers, fire breathers and theatrics electrify the atmosphere while the Late Night Society are invited to let their hair down on Saturday nights.

Sip cocktails, dance until the small hours and strut your best new looks under the neon lights. Crank up the glamour with a visit to the luxury VIP area for any groups who are feeling a bit extra!

If all that isn't enough - watch this space for the opening of Livello's brand-new rooftop bar The Crescendo and nearby exclusive ABOVE Rooftop Bar which are both coming very soon.

Aveika

A short strut downhill towards the River Tyne, Livello's sister venue Aveika is another top choice for partygoers on Newcastle Quayside. Aveika is often host to some of the biggest afterparties in Newcastle for events such as Ladies' Day and Northumberland Plate Festival. The weekend is a chance to impress at the late night bar or head down early to sample Aveika's delicious Asian fusion menu.

Gino's at INNSiDE hotel

If you're in search of a touch of class with a little more calm, wander along to the far end of Newcastle Quayside beyond the High Level Bridge to find Gino's spilling out onto the riverside path. For those who are seeking out the best in imaginative cocktails and a chance to transport yourselves to the Mediterranean will enjoy a stop at Gino's which is attached to Spanish-owned INNSiDE Hotel. If you threw a dart into the ample drinks menu, you wouldn't be disappointed! If the weather is feeling more North East than Naples, then visit the indoor bar area which is stylish, light and airy.

Colonel Porter's

Perched on the edge of the Quayside - Eclectic is probably the best world to describe Colonel Porter's and a great choice for those needing a well earned rest on the way up the famously steep Dean Street into Newcastle city centre. In a world where gin bars are on every corner, Colonel Porter's pride themselves on their rum choices instead. The menu is also made up of vintage cocktails which add to the overall, quirky 1930s atmosphere - think Round the World in 80 Days but with cool live DJ sets and cocktails galore!

Pitcher and Piano

There's rarely a quiet moment at Pitcher and Piano which buzzes with friends catching up most days of the week. When the sun shines, it's hard to get a space on the popular pavement seating area where colleagues, friends and visitors flock to enjoy a drink whilst admiring the iconic view of Gateshead Millennium Bridge and across the water to BALTIC. Pitcher and Piano is a familiar bar across the UK but has made it onto our list because we're confident all your friend's tastes will be met as well as its spectacular location in the thick of the Quayside action.

A 'come as you are' type bar for all nightlife fans, chilled pals catching up or those building up to hit the toon.

SIX at BALTIC

If its views you're after then head along to SIX at BALTIC on the Gateshead side of the Quayside. The Gateshead restaurant has a commitment to providing innovative vegan options as well as being a popular location for Afternoon Teas or cocktail get-togethers after a busy day exploring the Quayside.

Crown Posada

The Crown Posada is more than just a pub - its rich history makes it a treasure on the Quayside trail. Dating back centuries, the pub is thought to have been bought by a Spanish sea captain for his Tyneside mistress (quite the gift! Read more in this 2020 article by the BBC). Expect reasonably priced drinks, space for plenty of chatter and a local crowd.

The Hooch

The Hooch is a new addition to Newcastle Quayside. A small, intimate location, The Hooch is perfect for those day-to-night catch ups. With regular DJ sessions and live music - you will often find smooth soul, reggae and jazz beats accompanying your gin and tonic.
