Get a background to squirrel biology, ecology and identification.
Discover threats to our native squirrels and what is being done to address them. Learn how to identify squirrel field signs, how to look for squirrels using wildlife surveying equipment and how to report your sightings!
This training is particularly suitable for those who are interested in getting involved with squirrel monitoring, such as RSNE’s spring monitoring programme: www.rsne.org/spring-monitoring-programme.
We are especially interested in people who would like to get involved in squirrel conservation at sites to the north of Newcastle, including Big Waters Nature Reserve, Havannah and Three Hills Nature Reserve and NHSN’s Gosforth Nature Reserve.
Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear for the weather conditions on the day as some of this event takes place outside.
Participants will have an opportunity for further training in squirrel management if desired. Booking required.
