Novum - Ripu - Enemies Of The Mind
In a world increasingly fraught with darkness, finding ways to illuminate our paths becomes paramount. "Ripu," meaning enemy, is a captivating story-scape designed to confront and conquer the adversaries lurking within our minds.

Drawing inspiration from Hindu mythology, this unique workshop centres around the five formidable foes: anger, greed, jealousy, attachment, and laziness. Through the expressive mediums of Indian classical dance, storytelling, and live music, participants—both children and their grown-ups—embark on a profound journey of self-awareness and empowerment.

Guided by skilled facilitators, attendees delve into the rich narratives of Indian epics, weaving tales that shed light on the complexities of human nature. As they immerse themselves in the vibrant tapestry of movement, rhythm, and melody, they not only learn the traditional forms of expression but also gain invaluable insights into the intricacies of their own emotional landscapes. This workshop is more than just a performance; it's an educational experience that encourages active engagement and introspection.

Children are invited to explore specific movements, partake in brain-teasing rhythmic exercises, and even experiment with musical instruments, fostering a deeper connection with the cultural heritage of India while honing their cognitive and motor skills. But the true essence of "Ripu" lies in its transformative potential. Participants are empowered to make informed choices, taking ownership of their life stories and cultivating a profound sense of responsibility for their thoughts and actions. Through the creation of a "jar of mindfulness," attendees not only gain a tangible reminder of their journey but also a powerful tool to combat the inner enemies that threaten to overshadow their brilliance. As they depart from the workshop, hearts and minds alight with newfound understanding and resilience, participants carry with them the seeds of illumination, ready to nurture and cultivate a more beautiful world—one where the light within shines brighter than the shadows without.

Ripu is performed by dancer Payal Ramchandani, storyteller Elena Joy Miller and percussionist Brendan Murphy
