Michael Woods is an acclaimed Fingerpicking, Ragtime, Bottleneck & Blues Guitarist with four well received albums to date. Embracing the rich history of early blues, Michael’s powerful picking and slide really shine on material ranging from classic acoustic blues to self-penned songs & instrumentals. He incorporates elements of his experience in the folk world and his love of the North East and its history into his style and was awarded the James Hill Trophy for two consecutive years in 2014 & 2015.
One of his award winning tunes is Blink of an Eye, featured on his third album, East Coast Fret. Fatea magazine described him as “one of today's most inspirational performers ploughing this rootsy furrow”. Having performed on the main acoustic stage of most of the major UK Blues festivals as well as Lindisfarne & Callander Jazz & Blues festival he is looking forward to returning to the Lit & Phil,.
