An exciting free learning adventure for KS2 level learners at the Great North Museum: Hancock.
Time Odyssey is a fun, interactive learning experience that takes children on a quest through their local museum – physically and virtually.
Created by Art Explora and the British Museum, using pioneering technology, pupils engage with museum collections in a completely new way!
Time Odyssey is a blended learning adventure which is played on a tablet. Children work in small groups of 2 or 3 per tablet, assisted by parents and museum staff. At its centre is a dynamic, user-friendly app which encourages children to learn through play and storytelling.
But it’s not all digital! Pupils are involved in choosing and analysing museum objects, as well as teamwork, creative activities, photography and discussion.
What happens?
Students meet characters lost in time:
* Revna – the Viking of the Sea
* Cheng – a Trainee Scribe from Ancient China
* Felix – future Centurion from Roman Britain
* Hori – a tomb painter from Ancient Egypt.
Pupils choose a character, then take on a series of challenges to help them get home. How? By gathering enough energy from museum objects to open a time portal!!
Why take part?
* It’s free! We will give you a tablet to use on the day to guide you through your activity.
* It enhances history topics and skills, literacy, teamwork, and cross-curricular learning.
* It’s fun – children get to see the real thing and have an exciting new experience.
