On the 23rd day of the month of September, in an early year of a decade not too long before our own, the human race suddenly encountered a deadly threat to its very existence. And this terrifying enemy surfaced, as such enemies often do, in the seemingly most innocent and unlikely of places...
Seymour, an orphan and nerd, spends his time doing menial tasks in Mushnik's Skid Row Florists and dreaming of the shop assistant, Audrey. One day, just after a total eclipse of the Sun, Seymour purchases a strange and interesting plant which he names Audrey ll. While caring for Audrey ll, Seymour discovers it's rather unique appetite for blood. The plant grows and grows, as does Seymour's infatuation for Audrey, but who will get her first?
Featuring music composed by Alan Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, the show includes several well-known tunes, including the title song, Skid Row (Downtown), Somewhere That's Green, Feed Me and Suddenly, Seymour.
