Amy Leach and Alasdair Paul Launch their debut album They'll Aye Remain at the one and only Cumberland Arms.

Amy Leach and Alasdair Paul have been singing songs together for years. With roots in Edinburgh, Wester Ross and Newcastle they share a love of traditional songs and the stories behind them. Alasdair is a Highland guitarist now based in Newcastle, in demand for his thoughtful and driving style. He can be found playing across the country with Pons Aelius, the Heather Ferrier Trio and Jordan Aikins Quercus . Amy is an Edinburgh based singer, with a passion for the joy of singing: in this partnership, through her choir leading or any other chance she can find to sing. The Scots sangs and ballads they sing share glimpses into the darkest and lightest moments of life. The duos gigs are a journey through both sadness and joy, through old songs that remain relevant today and songs from more recent times that carry the echos of tradition. Passing these songs on is what Amy and Alasdair are all about.

They'll Aye Remain This is a collection of songs we love to sing. Its a collection of stories that grabbed our imagination, melodies that sang to us and a good smattering of the Scots leid.
In September 2025 we took a week away from the world and recorded these songs in the peaceful surroundings of South Lanarkshire. Our huge thanks to Rachel Newton and Tom Moore for their guidance and incredible skill in bringing this music to life.
Were so grateful to all our sources and to all the folk that make the old songs available online, in books and at singing sessions all over the place. We are especially grateful to Traveller singers past and present who sing, share and carry these songs.
Lucy Stewart (Traveller, singer and tradition bearer) didnt think the old songs were going to die out. She said theyll aye remain because theyre beautiful and sensible. We are glad to sing just a wee handful of these songs.
