"One to Watch for 2025" by BBC Introducing, Rivkala is a showgirl, sinner and storyteller. Winner of Drake Music's Emergent Artist of 2023, this rising Manchester-born, Newcastle-based jazz artist is inspired by the raw, emotive and irreverent social commentary of Nina Simone, Carole King and Amy Winehouse. After supporting Jordan Rakei with her band at BBC Proms 2024, she returned for a live taping of Radio 3s Round Midnight with Soweto Kinch for Proms 2025. Fresh off her debut TV performance for BBC Look North in connection with the MOBO Fringe festival, she has since been awarded Youth Music funding for her next project. With her freshly released debut EP, she lures us down the rabbit hole for a bitter and twisted night at the Crushed Velvet cabaret bar.

Five years after the release of her ballad-driven debut, the Manchester-via-Oregon soul singer returns with Divinely Devoteda smoky, sassy, and deeply confessional R&B record that defines her own signature sound. Co-written and produced with DeJour Thomas (Chlöe, Fousheé, Monaleo), the album doesnt just build on her earlier promiseit boldly reimagines it. Crafted in a burst of inspiration during a spontaneous two-day Los Angeles session, the concise 31-minute project captures the effortless chemistry and fearless creativity that mark this exciting new chapter in Nyahs evolution.
