This sit-down talk will explore two contrasting approaches to the small-scale watercolour vignette through the work of J.M.W. Turner, one of Britains best-known landscape painters, and Beatrix Potter, one of Britains best-loved childrens book illustrators. This talk, along with the exceptional loan of seven Turner watercolours from Tate for the exhibition Miniature Worlds: little landscapes from Thomas Bewick to Beatrix Potter , sees the Laing mark the 250th anniversary of Turners birth in 2025.
