Located in the heart of a quiet woodland setting, yet minutes from Newcastle city centre and the stylish neighbourhood of Jesmond, Jesmond Dene House Hotel and Restaurant offers understated luxury, contemporary style and award-winning food. An afternoon tea at Jesmond Dene is truly a way to treat yourself to a traditional tea with finger sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and delicate cakes which are crafted in-house.

If you want to go all out, indulge in a champagne or confectioners afternoon tea; each menu ranges from £19.50 per person to £32.00 per person. Afternoon tea is usually served from 2.30pm until 4.30pm, all year round. Gino D'acampo Restaurant Quayside

The popular Quayside spot offers a luxury afternoon tea experience in stunning surroundings overlooking the River Tyne. Created by Gino D’Acampo and his team of chefs this is an afternoon tea with an Italian twist. With a deli selection including bruschetta and gourmet sandwiches, freshly baked buttermilk scones served with whipped blackberry butter and Cornish clotted cream followed by sweet treats such as chocolate cake with Ferrero Rocher this is an elegant afternoon tea that you will never forget. Served daily.

Hotel Du Vin

If it’s elegance you crave then look no further than Hotel Du Vin. This relaxed yet chic hotel located next to the trendy, creative district of Ouseburn is perfect for indulging in those tempting towers of pastries, sandwiches and scones with lashings of jam. The hotel offers five variations on the classic afternoon tea, with cream tea, champagne and G&T versions all presenting plenty of options for thirsty travellers. Priced between £13.95 and £29.95 per person, and available Monday to Sunday from 2pm until 5pm, you should certainly consider afternoon tea at Hotel Du Vin if you’re staying the night.

Blackfriars Restaurant

Blackfriars invite you to tuck into a refined traditional tea at the weekend with a choice of tea or fizz to accompany the classic selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones. Perhaps a stand out addition to their teas is the Blackfriars' homemade wild hog sausage roll!  Afternoon teas are available at Blackfriars to dine in at their Newcastle restaurant on Fridays and Saturdays. Prices start at £20 per person.
