After a three-year hiatus, The Great Tyne Row returns on 21 August with 20 crews racing 25km from Newburn to Tynemouth to raise money to support Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums' (TWAM) learning and engagement programme at Segedunum Roman Fort, Wallsend.
Funds raised will help support resources for new school sessions exploring Roman engineering and technology, and new literary and creative writing sessions.
The River Tyne played a major role in the history of Hadrian's Wall, and to celebrate 1900 years since building the Wall began, the rowers will be dressed as Romans. Chair of the Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums Development Trust, Phil Kite, will be competing as a member of the Tyne Rowmans team.
Show your support for our Roman rowers and help us celebrate Hadrian’s Wall 1900 by sponsoring them on our JustGiving page: https://justgiving.com/campaig...
