Newcastle's Discovery Museum is looking for families to create a series of sonic ‘pictures’ of experiences of lockdown which will be shared via Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums’ Soundcloud platform.

Join a four-week, family-friendly online workshop from Saturday 16 January - Saturday 6 February and be part of the project!

In the Sonic Sounds of Lockdown event across 4 weekly Zoom sessions, ‘sonic investigators’ Matt Wright and Ruth Sheldon will guide families on how to capture these sounds and manipulate them to create a personal soundscape.

This is a wonderful collective activity for the whole family to take part in; all you need is a smartphone and computer, and a sense of adventure!

All four sessions cost £10 and are weekly on Saturday mornings, starting Saturday 16 January 9.30am – 10.30am. Suitable for ages 8 and over. Please check you can attend all sessions before booking as sessions cannot be booked individually. Places can be booked online where you will find more information about each session.

The Unlocking Our Sound Heritage Project is a national partnership led by the British Library and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and aims to save almost half a million rare and unique recordings that are threatened by physical degradation or stored on formats that can no longer be played.
