The RUGBY LEAGUE WORLD CUP has been postponed until 2022.

"RLWC2021 will be twelve months later than planned but we can’t wait to welcome the greatest athletes into some of the best stadia across England and have the global spotlight on Rugby League.

We are working hard to confirm new tournament arrangements including ticket details and availability and will be providing updates in due course."

Now scheduled for the Saturday 15 October 2022 and Saturday 19 November 2022, RLWC2021 will still launch with a spectacular opening match at Newcastle’s St James Park. The rest of the schedule is yet to be announced.


In 2022, Newcastle will take centre stage once again - this time as one of the host cities for the postponed Rugby League World Cup 2021.

Watch Scotland v Italy at Kingston Park as the nail-biting sporting tournament gets underway in 2022. The date for this event has not yet been announced.

The Scottish rugby league team will be staying in Newcastle to train during the tournament so come and support the Bravehearts as they bring their A game to the 2022 world cup.

The biggest tournament in Rugby League - the Rugby League World Cup - will take place in England spanning 5 weeks from Saturday 15 October 2022 and Newcastle will be one of the host cities for the major sporting event. Newcastle's iconic city-centre stadium, St James' Park will host the opening game which will see England v Samoa to kick start the Rugby League World Cup tournament.

The excitement doesn't end there, nearby Kingston Park will host an additional 3 men's group games. Kingston Park is home to Newcastle Thunder and Rugby Union team Newcastle Falcons.

Fans of rugby league will also be able to enjoy the wider tournament across the country with not just the men's group but also a nail biting tournament from the Women's group and, for the first time ever, the wheelchair competition will be part of the Rugby League World Cup main event.
