Event information about Remembrance Sunday in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne will be announced nearer the time. Please be aware that this event is not confirmed for 2020 and the date and details are merely a guideline.

In previous years on Remembrance Sunday, the Bishop of Newcastle usually leads a service of remembrance at the war memorial in Old Eldon Square before a parade of serving, veteran and cadet forces and support services. The Remembrance Sunday Service is to respectfully commemorate military and civilian servicemen and women who died in the two world wars and in all later conflicts. Typically, from 10.30am on the same day, a Remembrance Day parade will make its way from Newcastle Civic Centre to Old Eldon Square.

A blanket of woollen poppies knitted and crocheted by volunteers can be seen sweeping across the square around the memorial in a fitting and charming tribute of commemoration.

Every year scores of serving personnel, veterans and their families turn out to pay their respects and lay wreaths. Members of the public are encouraged to attend to show their support for the armed forces community.
