Online Ancient Egypt Day for schools & home educators
Join the Great North Museum: Hancock team for a day of virtual Ancient Egyptian activities . Watch virtual tours and take part in live workshops. You can even submit your questions to one of our experts!

Please note that for Safeguarding, adults not accompanying a participating child will not be permitted into any of these sessions.

Suitable for KS1, KS2 and KS3.

Come on a tour of the Ancient Egyptian gallery at the Great North Museum: Hancock. Discover some of the wonderful objects in our collection . Use the ‘Can you Find?’ sheet to see if you can spot our key objects. Then t est your knowledge after the tour with our quiz!

Aimed at KS1 and KS2.

Come and investigate animals that lived in Ancient Egypt and how they were used to represent Egyptian Gods. In this session, we’ll also be exploring Goddess Ammit and how animals were linked to the afterlife.

Come and investigate our mummified people Irtyru and Bakt- en-Hor through C T scans, X -rays and written evidence. D iscover what this information tell s us about their life and afterlife.

Please note that this Virtual Ancient Egypt Day is open for multiple schools and/or home learners to book. We will instruct all participants to turn cameras and microphones off during the sessions.
