Linderism at Hatton Gallery

Hatton Art Gallery in Newcastle was due to reopen its doors for the first time since its lockdown closure in March, with a solo exhibition of work by Linder Stirling. The contemporary art exhibition - Linderism - was scheduled to run from 7 November 2020 - 23 January 2021 - however was postponed as a result of Lockdown 2.

Never fear - art fans can join artist Linder Stirling online at a live Zoom workshop on Saturday 5 December 2020, 10.30am -12noon.

The Laing Art Gallery and Hatton Gallery are delighted to welcome Linder to a live Zoom conversation in which she has agreed to answer 20 questions from Zoom participants as part of an informal exploration of themes within her work.

Questions for Linder will be invited from participants as their registration for the event is confirmed.

Content warning. The exploration of gender and sexuality is fundamental to Linder’s work. She uses imagery from different print materials, including pornography.

Linder was born in Liverpool in 1954 and was an active figure in the punk and post-punk music scenes. Probably best known for the album covers which she created, her photomontages often combine everyday images taken from fashion or home magazines with images from pornography.
