Newcastle’s newest great night out, The Great Market Caper, is back in Grainger Market on Saturday October 1st, running from 6.30pm to midnight.
Following the success of September’s inaugural Caper, organisers have now finalized another programme of top entertainment for the night. The format for October’s Caper will be similar; great food, cool bars, live music and DJs, dancing, and comedy. The line-ups however will be very different.
This time around, the fabulous Cubanos, the exquisite King Baby Bagels, and the institution that that is the 1-2-1 Café will be opening their doors to hungry customers, joining favourites including Acropolis, Feds, and Redheads Mac and Cheese. The special guest food vendor spot goes this time to Cantina Newcastle and their delicious Mexican vegan tacos. Given the quality, it’s no surprise that they are firm favourites of Caper friend and supporter, Hairy Biker Si King.
Mother Mercy will be back with all the flavours and theatre of their unique cocktails, and there will also be a wider range of beers on offer, including from festival favourite VW Shack and the wonderful, and ultra-local, Firebrick Brewery who are joining the Caper for the first time.
The DJs will be provided by Multiminded Music, fresh from their latest stint at the Lindisfarne Festival, while the live offering underscores the Caper’s broad appeal. Young rapper and future superstar, Kema Kay, will kick off proceedings, followed by rhythm and blues talents, The King Bees. Local legend, musician and raconteur extraordinaire, Martin Stephenson will round off the night with a 90-minute set on the main stage.
With two Line Dancing sessions and, for those feeling brave, a Belly Dancing lesson with dance supremo Brooke Brown Adams, and top comedy in the rechristened-for-the-night 1-2-1 Comedy Club compered by the one and only Alfie Joey, once again there will be no shortage of entertainment at The Great Market Caper!
