Gateshead Pride Code Breakers NG

Calling all secret agents – are you a code breaker? 🕵️‍♀️✨

Get ready for an exciting adventure during Pride in Gateshead with the interactive Code Breaker activity! Perfect for all ages, this engaging treasure hunt will have participants cracking codes and uncovering the fascinating history of Alan Turing.

How to Play:

  1. Find the Posters: Look for 10 unique posters scattered across different event locations throughout Gateshead.
  2. Grab a Key Sheet: Key sheets will be available at each event venue, or downloadable from the official website (coming soon). A plain sheet of paper works just as well!
  3. Decode the Messages: Use the key sheet to crack the codes on each poster. Alternatively, smartphone users can record answers in a notes app.
  4. Explore and Discover: Each poster presents a code to crack and a snippet of Alan Turing's life story.

Locations to Explore:

  • Chopwell Woods
  • Metrocentre
  • Saltwell Park
  • Trinity Square
  • Baltic Quadrant (including The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, and Gateshead College Baltic Campus)
  • Barley Mow and Birtley (featuring Birtley Children's Centre, Birtley Leisure Centre, Birtley Library, Mary Saunders Building, and Morrisons)

Who Can Play:

The Code Breaker activity is open to everyone, both children and adults, and is free of charge.

The activity runs throughout Pride in Gateshead Month, from 1st to 31st August 2024. Participants can join in at any time during August and aim to find all 10 posters and crack the codes.
