Adult workshops: Textile rust and tea dyeing with Deb Cooper
The Shipley's adult creative workshops are back! These all-day workshops will introduce you to creative skills and art forms led by professional artists.

About the workshop

Experimental textile workshop using rust and tea to dye fabrics, threads, and paper. Spend the morning looking at creating interesting backgrounds & mark making methods using rust and tea. You will end up with some samples, ideas to take away. In the afternoon there will be a” slow” stitching session using previously dyed fabrics responding to marks in the fabrics. No experience needed; all materials provided. About Deb Cooper

Deb Cooper is a mixed media textile artist who is drawn to natural forms, and the beautiful way nature and time ages things. Line, flow, and texture always return as the main themes within her work. Considering the impact of waste and over production Deb regularly recycled fibres, found objects and vintage textiles and papers, to extend their use. In her workshop at the Shipley Art Gallery, you will explore playing with simple fabric manipulation and some basic embroidery stitches to create something new from your fabric scraps. www.debcoopertextileart.com
