If you’re looking for ideas for how to spend an evening, from the best places to get takeaway pints, scrummy food delivered to your door and the best entertainment from the comfort of your own home, then look no further. From beers to burgers and theatre performances to escape rooms, we can certainly promise you a night like no other. – and supporting local in the process!
While we might not be able to dance the night away in our favourite bars, like everything in 2020, we just have to switch it up! There are still plenty of ways you can support your favourite pubs and bars and enjoy beverages you love, in a safe way.
Wylam Brewery has a special place in our hearts after it sprung onto the brewery scene in 2000, as a 30 barrel micro-brewery residing in the stunning Palace of the Arts in Exhibition Park. The venue itself has seen many a night out, hosting music nights and events, not to forget the annual legendary ‘Battle of the Burger’. Unfortunately, its doors are currently closed due to coronavirus restrictions, but it’s brewing barrels are still churning! You can stock up on your favourite independent craft ales thanks to the Wylam Brewery online store. Whether it’s a cask of pale ale, or a collection of cans of firm favourite, Jakehead – Wylam Brewery will deliver the goods!
The Free Trade Inn is often referred to as a hidden gem of NewcastleGateshead, a legendary watering hole that’s a favourite with locals who have fond memories of former resident cat, Craig David. But not only does it offer a fantastic drinks selection, the Free Trade Inn also serves up some of the finest views of the Tyne from its premises overlooking the NewcastleGateshead Quayside. Although for now, you might have to make do seeing the view via the Free Trade Inn Instagram, you can enjoy a collection of drinks from the pub’s webstore. These are available for click and collect and can also be shipped nationally.
A relative newbie on the scene, Mean Eyed Cat is a small, independent bar in Newcastle with six cask lines and eight kegs. This quirky and quaint bar is a must-stop on any city centre night out, and although you can’t physically prop the bar up at the moment, the Mean Eyed Cat crew have made sure you don’t miss out thanks to its click and collect service. Browse a range of ever-changing beverages from independent brewers, along with wines and spirits then simply click and voila, you can collect your order from the no-contact collection point.
