You don't have to don all the layers to enjoy a Christmas drink in Newcastle and Gateshead this winter (as if we would anyway!). Warm up your night out in Newcastle this Christmas with a visit to one of NewcastleGateshead's wintry wonderlands.

There is something especially inviting about the warm glow and festive aromas that linger around the door of a winter tipi. Newcastle is many people's top choice for a Christmas night out or a shopping city break but with the colder weather making a sharp return, throw your sparkliest gladrags on and grab your spot beside a roaring firepit, or join your friends surrounded by faux fur while you sample Christmas-inspired cocktails and tuck into a range of dining options.

Alfresco dining in Newcastle just got a whole lot cosier. Read on for our guide to where to find tipis, fire pits, outdoor dining pods and festive places to catch up with friends in NewcastleGateshead.

Gino's Winter Chalet

New for 2021 is Gino's Winter Chalet at INNSiDE by Melia hotel. Festooned with twinkly lights and scattered with faux furs, the chalet is very evocative of cosy Continental winters. A mix of dining areas and informal high stools ensure you will be able to relax with a festive tipple or tuck into an Italian feast in comfort. Stroll through the weekend Quayside Market to pick up some locally-sourced gifts and keep wandering upstream towards Gino's Winter Chalet or drop in mid-week to start your festive celebrations.
